As a baby and pregnancy announcement photographer in Fort Worth, I get to document one of the most exciting moments for growing families. Announcement photos have always been such a joy to photograph. I work with couples expecting their first baby as well as families welcoming another little one. And when you already have little ones at home, it’s the perfect time to include the whole family and make it a family session (as shown in this blog). Those first few months of pregnancy can bring a lot of different feelings and changes, but sharing your exciting news is something worth celebrating.

For the pregnancy announcement session shown in this blog, we went to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden on a summer morning. This family has two little ones and is expecting their third. The Botanic Garden was a perfect location that fit their vision and also gave the older siblings room to play and explore, plus it offers so much variety in one place. It’s one of my favorite spots for photos in the Fort Worth area.

When Should You Take Pregnancy Announcement Photos?

Most families book their announcement session somewhere between 12 and 16 weeks, or whenever they feel ready to share the news. Here are a few things to think about:

• Announcing at 12 weeks: Schedule your session to take place around the 10 week mark so your images are delivered when you’re ready to share.
• Waiting for the 20-week scan: Reach out before this appointment so we can save a date around the appointment.
• Adding a gender reveal: Combining your announcement with finding out the gender as a family makes for some of the most genuine reactions and it’s so special to document. Schedule your session to line up with when you plan to learn the gender.

Maternity photos are typically scheduled around the 28-34 week mark when your bump is more visible. After baby arrives, newborn photos, milestone sessions throughout the first year, and first birthday photos come together to capture many of baby’s firsts.
