Is a Studio the Right Location for your Newborn Session?
After you book your newborn session, and once baby is here, we will finalize the location for your photos. I offer newborn sessions outdoors, at-home, and in studio depending on the family. Each location has its own pros and you really can’t go wrong. The focus of your photos is never your location anyway – it’s your family. Many of the families that choose a studio for their newborn photos are looking for minimal backgrounds, great light, and maybe just the ease of showing up and everything being ready for you.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area has a ton of beautiful, natural light studios that are perfect for your newborn photography session. Once we settle on a date, I’ll recommend a variety of studios in DFW that are great to use. The one featured in this post is located The Lumen Room (College Ave. Location).
When Should You Book Your Studio Newborn Session?
Once you inquire and book your session with me, you’ll indicate any location type preferences. If a studio is the location decided on – once baby, and your family has settled, we’ll book a studio based on availability. I recommend reaching out around second trimester to reserve your newborn session. I’ll hold your session by due date on my calendar and then once baby is here we’ll set the actual date and time.
One thing to keep in mind is that studios can be limited during the fall season so flexibility with exact studio location and date might be needed.
What Should You Bring to Your Studio Newborn Session with Siblings?
Maybe one of the best parts of a studio session is that you won’t feel pressure to “prep” the space. So the only things you’ll need to bring are the things your family needs. I’ll send a list of recommended items to bring with you like extra clothes just in case, baby wipes, bottles and pacis (if using). For a studio newborn session with siblings, I also recommend brining a few small toys, snacks, and books so they can take breaks throughout our time together.
I’ll bring a baby basket, swaddles, and dresses from my client closet (if you choose to wear something from there) so that all you really need to do is show up ready to be with your family.

There are a ton of studios in the Fort Worth and Dallas area that are perfect for newborn photography sessions ranging from minimal spaces to cozy studio houses. I have a list of favorite studios I’ll share with you to choose from to fit any vision.
How long does a studio newborn session with siblings take?
Most newborn sessions with siblings take about 1-1.5 hours depending on the family. We will always go at the pace of your little ones and baby. This leaves room for feeding, snuggle breaks, silliness, time for them to wander in and out, while still capturing photos that create a beautiful gallery of our time together.
Is a studio session better than an in-home session for big families?
I don’t think one is “better” than another. It’s really more about what works best for your family. I do believe we can make any home work for photos (even ones with little light) but for some families the studio is the easier option. No prep, a chance to get out of the house, and a background that is filled with natural light and minimal backdrops.
What should we wear for studio newborn photos?
