Maternity Photos at White Rock Lake

Maternity photos at White Rock Lake is one of my favorite Dallas locations for outdoor maternity sessions. The tall grasses, open spaces, and views of the lake make for a beautiful backdrop with a ton of variety. Plus, it’s right in the city making it easy to get to for many families in DFW.

I love offering flexibility for the families I work with, and helping you choose a location that feels right for your session is one of my favorite parts of my job as a Dallas and Fort Worth maternity photographer.

Why I Love White Rock Lake for Maternity Photos

One of my favorite things about maternity photos at White Rock Lake is the variety we can create without needing to move around too much. The open grassy areas give us that soft, natural feel while the lake adds a completely different backdrop just a short walk away.

During maternity sessions, I want you to have time to slow down and simply be together. We will capture photos of you on your own, with your spouse, and with other little ones if this isn’t your first baby. There is plenty of guidance throughout the session but I also leave room for things to unfold naturally.

For families with young children, locations with room to move are always a favorite of mine. I don’t expect little ones to stand still or smile at the camera for an entire session. Instead, you’ll walk, play, cuddle, and we’ll let them explore. White Rock Lake in Dallas gives us the space to do exactly that.

This session was photographed in the fall when the grasses had warmer, golden tones but White Rock Lake can be a beautiful option throughout much of the year. The look of the location changes with the seasons, which is something I always consider when helping families choose a location for their maternity photos. Spring and summer bring more green and lush backgrounds, while fall and winter bring the tall golden grasses and colorful leaves (as shown in this post).

Pregnancy can feel like such a blur. You’re preparing for a new baby, watching your family change, and trying to soak in a season that somehow feels so long and incredibly short at the same time. Maternity photos give you a chance to document not only your growing bump but your family in the weeks before you welcome someone new.
