As a Fort Worth lifestyle family photographer and newborn photographer, one of the things I focus on is connection. My goal is to document your family in a way that feels authentic, joyful, and true to everyday life. I never want a session to feel stiff or overly posed. You’ll have guidance, of course, but your family is always the star.
Prepping for a Natural, Candid Session
One way I help you prep for your session is through the session questionnaire. It includes general questions plus a few designed to show me what matters most to you. My favorite question is: “In 20 years, when you look back at these photos, what will you remember most?” Over the years, I rarely see answers about a perfectly posed family portrait. Most people talk about laughter, connection, details, and real moments. The moments that truly tell their family story.
We, of course, include the traditional photo where everyone smiles, but most of the session is about love, joy, and the little beautiful chaos of your family. You don’t need to worry about smiling at the camera the entire session, I will let you know when to look at me. Instead, focus on being with your family and truly soaking in the time to be together.
I’ll pay attention to what makes your kids giggle, how you play together, and the quiet moments with your spouse. I’ll focus on the little gestures of love between siblings, tiny hands fitting in yours, and cuddles when your children need comfort. Of course, as a photographer, I also consider composition, lighting, and flattering angles, but my sessions go beyond poses. I capture candid, lifestyle family photos in Fort Worth meant to be treasured for decades. These are moments you, your kids, or even your grandkids will want to look back on in 20, 30, or 50 years.
