Updated for Spring 2026 with current Fort Worth events and activities.
Spring in Fort Worth is the best. The weather finally warms up, the sunshine sticks around a little longer, and the whole city starts to bloom. Bluebonnets usually begin popping up in late March, and other colorful wildflowers follow shortly after.
It’s one of the easiest times of year to get outside with your family and enjoy everything Fort Worth has to offer. If you’re looking for simple, family-friendly ways to enjoy the season, here are a few spring family activities to get you started.
Spring Family Activities in Fort Worth
- Pick flowers at Texas Tulips
- Visit the Fort Worth Botanic Garden
- Spend the day at Airfield Falls
- Shop the Clearfork Farmers Market
- Catch a Texas Rangers game
- Bike Along the Trinity River
- Explore the Main Street Arts Festival
- Attend Mayfest in Trinity Park
1. Pick Your Own Flowers at Texas Tulips
A short drive up to Pilot Point to visit Texas Tulips is absolutely worth it. The fields are filled with rows of bright, colorful tulips.
Kids can walk through the rows and fill their baskets with their favorite flowers. It’s a simple outing that feels a little magical. And the best part? You get to bring home fresh flowers for your kitchen table.
Tip: Go earlier in the season if you can while the fields are in full bloom.
2. Visit the Fort Worth Botanic Garden
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is beautiful year-round, but spring is when it really shines. The gardens come alive with blooms, and it’s the perfect place for a family day out.
A few spring highlights to check out:
- The Butterfly Exhibit beginning March 1
- The Japanese Spring Festival in late April
- A picnic or walk through the rose and Japanese gardens
If you’re already planning a visit, it can also be a beautiful location for family photos in the spring.
3. Spend the Day at Airfield Falls
When the weather starts warming up, Airfield Falls is a favorite spot for local families. The short trail to the waterfall is manageable for little legs, and once you arrive, the creek area is perfect for playing.
Bring water shoes, a picnic, and a blanket. Kids can splash, skip rocks, and explore the water.
Tip: Parking is limited at the location, try to go during the weekday or early on the weekends.
4. Shop at the Clearfork Farmers Market
Saturday mornings at the Clearfork Farmers Market are one of my favorite ways to start the weekend.
You can grab fresh produce, sample local treats, pick up flowers, and support local businesses. Kids usually love the music, the samples, and the open space to wander a bit.
Go early if you can. The weather is cooler, and the crowds are lighter.
5. Catch a Texas Rangers Game
Baseball season is back, which makes spring the perfect time to catch a Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Field.
Even if your kids don’t care much about baseball yet, the atmosphere is fun and easygoing. Grab a hot dog, cheer on the home team, and enjoy a night out as a family.
If you’re bringing kids, head up to the upper level where there’s a kids play area that gives them space to move around during the game.
6. Ride Bikes Along the Trinity Trails
The Trinity Trails run throughout Fort Worth and make a great spot for a family bike ride or stroller walk.
You can park near Clearfork, pack a picnic, and spend the morning biking or walking along the river. It’s simple, but sometimes those are the best kinds of outings.
7. Explore the Main Street Arts Festival
Each spring, downtown Fort Worth transforms into a huge outdoor art festival. The Main Street Arts Festival brings hundreds of artists, live music, and food vendors right into the heart of the city.
Families can visit the booths, listen to music, watch artists at work, and grab snacks along the way. There’s so many kid dedicated activities that it’s a perfect outing for little ones and teens.
8. Attend Mayfest in Trinity Park
Mayfest is one of Fort Worth’s longest-running spring traditions and a fun event for the whole family. The festival takes place in Trinity Park and includes live music, local vendors, festival food, and plenty of activities for kids.
There are rides, games, and a large kids area that makes it especially family-friendly. Plus, the location along the Trinity River makes it a great excuse to spend the day outside enjoying the spring weather.
If your family enjoys festivals and being outdoors, Mayfest is definitely worth adding to your spring calendar.
9. Book a Spring Photo Session
Spring is one of my favorite times of year for family photos in Fort Worth. The wildflowers, fresh greenery, and soft evening light make such a beautiful backdrop.
While fall tends to be “photo season,” spring is honestly just as pretty (and often a little less busy).
If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, spring is a great time to do it. I offer relaxed, lifestyle sessions for families, maternity, newborns, and milestone moments. You can reach out here to schedule a session or learn more about availability.
