This cozy maternity session was such a special one. The weather in Fort Worth for this session day was freezing—one of those days when you don’t even want to step outside. Instead of braving the cold, we pivoted to an in-home session. Honestly? It was the perfect choice.
There’s something so effortless and personal about at-home maternity photos. No rushing to get out the door, no worrying about the weather—just a chance to slow down and snuggle up. Your home is already filled with little moments that make up your everyday life. That makes it the perfect backdrop for photos that feel cozy and intimate. Plus, if you have little ones—like the little boy in this session—they warm up faster in a familiar space.
Planning Your Maternity Photography Session
When planning an at-home session, I always ask for quick photos of the rooms with the best natural light. This helps us decide on the best spots and when to schedule your session. I LOVE little patches of light and unique sun spots. They bring variety to your photos. Light tells a story on its own and inspires all of my sessions.
One of my favorite parts of this session was styling it to fit both cozy and classic vibes. All of my sessions include wardrobe consultation and access to my client closet to make things easy! For this at-home session, we chose two looks. One that was cozy and relaxed, and the other that felt classic with a flowy dress. To add more variety, we incorporated a bold red color. It popped against the neutral tones of their home. Years from now, I want you to look back at your photos and truly see yourself. That starts with wearing outfits that make you feel beautiful and comfortable.
