As a Fort Worth family photographer, one of my favorite locations to use year-round is the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. The ease of access, beautiful scenery every season, and opportunities to make memories together make it a wonderful spot for family photos.
It’s one of those locations that never seems to photograph the same way twice. Depending on the season, you might find blooming flowers, green pathways, or pockets of fall color. The gardens are large enough that we can easily move around and create plenty of variety without needing to leave one location.
Fort Worth Botanic Garden family photos are especially beautiful in the fall (as shown in the photos featured here). As the weather cools and fall arrives in Fort Worth, many of the trees begin to change color at the garden, creating a fall-like backdrop. The gardens offer a little bit of everything – from wide-open spaces to less-crowded pathways. And because there’s so much variety, each family session can feel completely unique from the last.
If you’re considering Fort Worth Botanic Garden family photos, below are a few things to think about.

Before You Go, Plan for Admission Tickets
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden requires admission tickets to enter, and tickets can be purchased ahead of time or day of. Purchasing tickets in advance can help you feel a little less rushed and settled before your session starts.
A Few Dates to Keep in Mind
Throughout the year, there are certain dates when photography sessions are not permitted usually during special events and the two Japanese festivals. As your family photographer, I’ll keep an eye on the schedule and let you know if there are any restrictions that affect your session.
Timing Your Session at the Gardens
Another thing to remember when planning Fort Worth Botanic Garden family photos is that sessions need to begin at least one hour before the gardens close. The Botanic Garden doesn’t allow visitors to purchase tickets and enter during that final hour and the closing times vary depending on the season.
We’ll plan your session time carefully dependent on both best lighting and your family so you have plenty of time to enjoy the space. That flexibility can be especially helpful with young children, nap schedules, or simply finding a time of day when everyone is at their best.
I’ve loved taking Fort Worth Botanic Garden family photos at a variety of times throughout the year. Whether we choose morning or afternoon, we often have more flexibility at the gardens than we might at many other outdoor locations around Fort Worth. There’s usually a variety of shady spots and beautiful light that help make this location have great lighting at multiple times of day.
Turn Your Session Into a Family Outing
One of my favorite pieces of advice for Fort Worth Botanic Garden family photos is to turn your session into a family outing. Pack a picnic, bring some snacks, and spend a little extra time exploring the gardens before or after your session. Kids love exploring the pathways, seeing the flowers, and feeding the big fish. It helps the session feel like a fun family experience rather than simply showing up for photos.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden Family Photos
There is something special about Fort Worth Botanic Garden family photos. There’s always something new for little ones to discover and sessions here tend to feel less like a photoshoot and more like a day spent together as a family. My hope is that your photos bring you right back to this season of life and all the little moments that came with it.
