Slow evenings. Barefoot kids running through the backyard. Popsicles melting all over little hands. Running through the sprinklers, loud silly giggles, and that warm summer glow.
These everyday moments at home are often the ones we remember most. And the ones our kids will remember too.
And that’s exactly what inspired my Summer Backyard Sessions.
These sessions are designed to document the feeling of summer at home. They’re relaxed, connection-focused, and centered around your family’s real life. My Summer Backyard Sessions are a limited summer series offered at a special rate, with only a handful available.

1. What Are Summer Backyard Sessions?
Summer Backyard Sessions take place in your own home and backyard.
Rather than heading to a park or outdoor location, we use the spaces your family already loves. Your backyard. Your patio. The kitchen where popsicles are handed out. The living room where everyone piles together after a long day outside.
Picture this:
- Kids running barefoot through the grass and sprinklers
- Laying in the yard looking for shapes in the clouds
- Patio snuggles and cuddles with your favorite people
- The simple little moments that make up your summer
The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is documenting this season exactly as it feels.
2. What Will These Sessions Feel Like?
These sessions feel very similar to my regular family sessions. I provide guidance when needed, but they remain relaxed and easy.
Before your session, we’ll talk through ideas and create a plan that feels natural for your family and your home. I’ll guide you where needed, but the focus is always on connection and genuine moments rather than stiff posing.
If you’ve ever worried that your home isn’t “photo-worthy” enough, don’t. The beauty of these sessions isn’t about having a perfect house. It’s about documenting your family’s life in a place that means so much.

3. What If My Home or Backyard Doesn’t Have Great Light?
This is one of the most common questions I receive. The good news is that you don’t have to figure that out. My job is to find the light and create photographs that feel warm, natural, and true to your family. Your job is to enjoy your family.
And, I’ll help guide you on the best timing, locations, and spaces to use both inside and outside your home. Sometimes the most unexpected corner of a house ends up creating beautiful images.
4. Are Summer Backyard Sessions Good for Newborn Photos?
These sessions can absolutely include a newborn. However, they are designed with full-family connection in mind and tend to work best for family, maternity, motherhood, or family-centered newborn sessions.
If your goal is a more traditional newborn session with a stronger focus on your baby, timing that better matches your newborn’s schedule, and more newborn-specific imagery, a full newborn session will serve your family best. Learn more about my newborn offerings here.
With that said, babies are always welcome in Summer Backyard Sessions and can be a beautiful way to document life with a new little one during the summer months.
5. What If I Want Something Different This Summer?
No problem at all! I’m still offering my regular family, maternity, newborn, and milestone sessions throughout the summer with more flexible dates. You can learn more about those session options here.
