Outdoor Spring Family Photos in DFW with Wildflowers // Fort Worth and Dallas Photographer

Spring might be my favorite season for family photos in North Texas. I know fall gets most of the hype, but there is something truly special about spring. Everything feels fresh again. Trees turn every shade of green, wildflowers begin popping up, and the evenings stay comfortable before that summer heat arrives.

Spring family photos in DFW are such a beautiful way to capture your family.

Fall is often the season families think about for family photos, and I get it. The colors are beautiful, the weather is comfortable, and it’s right before the holidays. But spring brings a different kind of beauty. Everything feels new again after winter, and there’s this beautiful soft light that takes over. (And sick season has usually calmed down a bit too. Parents with small kids… you get it.).

What a Spring Family Photo Session Feels Like

With an outdoor spring session, we can choose a location that feels perfect for your family. A place where kids can run, explore, pick flowers, or splash in a creek. We can slow down, soak in the season together, and document your family with a beautiful spring backdrop in DFW.

During sessions, we spend a good amount of time playing, walking, and letting kids be themselves. Some of the best moments happen when no one is trying too hard. A child running through the grass. A quick hug between siblings. Parents pulling everyone close for a family hug.

Those small moments often become the images families treasure the most.

What to Wear for Spring Family Photos

Outfits photograph beautifully in the spring landscape. Soft colors, light fabrics, and simple layers work especially well outdoors. Think soft creams, or neutrals with light patterns.

Flowy dresses are always a perfect pick in the spring for photos. The movement adds a natural sense of motion to photos.

My big tip when choosing outfits for everyone? Try coordinating colors instead of matching exactly. A mix of tones and textures usually feels more natural in outdoor photos.

To make planning easier, I created a Spring Family Outfit Guide with color palettes and simple tips for coordinating your family. You can download the guide here.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, spring is such a beautiful time to do it. The light, the colors, and the slower pace of the season create space for meaningful images together.

BEHIND THE LENS

I'm Amber

I’m a photographer located in the Fort Worth area where I live with my husband and our two kids.

I’ve had a camera in hand since childhood, but it wasn’t until motherhood that I truly wished I could freeze time.

As a mom to two young kids, I know just how quickly the seasons pass. With coffee in one hand and a never-ending to-do list in the other, photography gives us the space to pause, slow down, and truly cherish the memories.

My goal for every session is to capture your family in a way that is authentic, while making the process easy and meaningful. I want you to look back at your photos years from now and see just how beautiful it all was.
