Although we may still have several hot days ahead, fall in Fort Worth is just around the corner, and that means it’s almost time for sweater weather and soup season! Fall in North Texas is one of the best times of the year, offering cooler weather, beautiful fall colors, and plenty of fall family activities. Here are 8 fall family activities in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas that you don’t want to miss.

1. Hall’s Pumpkin Farm – Grapevine

Hall’s Pumpkin Farm is one of our go-to spots in the fall. They have it all – flower picking, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, hayrides, and more! It’s the perfect place for a family outing or even a cozy date. The farm truly feels like fall and makes for an all-around fun fall outing. Their season officially starts on October 3rd.

2. Heritage Urban Farm – Weatherford

A short drive to Weatherford and you’ll find Heritage Urban Farm. A cute farm with pumpkin patches, animals, kid activities, and sweet treats. It’s such a fun place not too far outside Fort Worth. My kids LOVED the hay ride and lemonade.

3. Fort Worth Botanic Garden

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is a gem year-round, but in the fall, it becomes a stunning display of autumn colors. It’s an ideal spot for a walk, a family picnic, or even some family photos. The gardens are expansive, offering plenty of space for the kids to run around and explore. During the fall, there are multiple fall events including ¡Celebramos! and the Fall Japanese Festival that you don’t want to miss!

4. Pumpkin Nights – Arlington

Pumpkin Nights in Arlington is a magical event that showcases thousands of intricately carved pumpkins, creating a festive atmosphere. The event offers live entertainment, delicious food and drinks, and a festive pumpkin patch, making it a perfect way to celebrate the fall season with family and friends.

5. TCU Football Game – Fort Worth

Go Frogs! TCU football games are a perfect fall activity in Fort Worth. Whether you’re planning a parents-day-out or bringing the whole family, attending a game is always a blast. Arrive early to enjoy some tailgating fun, and if your little ones are sensitive to loud noises, don’t forget to bring ear muffs. We take our kids every year, and I still find them chanting “T-C-U!” year round.

6. Boo at the Zoo – Fort Worth

Boo at the Zoo is a family favorite for Halloween fun. The Fort Worth Zoo is transformed into a spooky, family-friendly, environment with trick-or-treating, themed decorations, and even special animal encounters. It’s a great way to celebrate Halloween with kids (and adults) of all ages.

7. Hiking Trails

We love finding new trails to explore and hike in and around Fort Worth. And fall is the perfect time with the cooler temps and fall colors. We have two little ones so we are a little limited on some trails, but our favorite places to explore are at Marion Sansom Park, Eagle Mountain Park, and Marine Creek Lake.

8. Parade of Lights – Fort Worth

Okay, okay, this might be more holiday and Christmas than fall, but the parade takes place in November, so it still counts! The Parade of Lights is one of our favorite family traditions. Bring your folding chairs, dinner (or grab something to eat in Sundance Square), and enjoy the night parade. The highlight for the kids is always when Santa makes his appearance toward the end of the parade – it keeps them excited the entire time! If you live in Fort Worth, you don’t want to miss it. There’s nothing quite like seeing the joy in your child’s eyes as they watch all the beautifully decorated floats pass by.

BEHIND THE LENS

I'm Amber

I’m a photographer located in the Fort Worth area where I live with my husband and our two kids.

I’ve had a camera in hand since childhood, but it wasn’t until motherhood that I truly wished I could freeze time.

As a mom to two young kids, I know just how quickly the seasons pass. With coffee in one hand and a never-ending to-do list in the other, photography gives us the space to pause, slow down, and truly cherish the memories.

My goal for every session is to capture your family in a way that is authentic, while making the process easy and meaningful. I want you to look back at your photos years from now and see just how beautiful it all was.
