Turning one is a milestone worth celebrating! Those tiny hands, wobbly steps, and curious smiles are little details worth remembering. A milestone session captures your baby’s personality while also celebrating your family’s first year of parenthood. After all, this is a big milestone for you too.
As a Fort Worth family and newborn photographer, milestone sessions are some of my favorites. Many families invite me to photograph their little one as a newborn and then again at one year. Seeing how much they’ve grown – and how much you’ve grown as parents – is such a joy. Whether the focus is just your baby or your entire family, you can’t go wrong celebrating this milestone.
I offer two session types: petite sessions (30 minutes, baby-focused) and full-length sessions (one hour, with the whole family). Both capture candid moments, sweet details, and, if you’d like, a playful cake smash.
Incorporating a cake smash into your session is easy and playful. We begin with simple portraits, then we bring out the cake and watch them go. Some babies dive right in while others play curiously. Watching their reactions – big smiles, curious pokes, or full-on messy fun – is one of the best parts. Each baby reacts differently, which makes every cake smash session unique.
Babies change so quickly in their first year. Milestone sessions freeze these fleeting moments. You’ll love looking back at images that show first smiles, tiny toes, and a full year of growth.
One-Year Milestone Photography FAQ
Almost anywhere in the Fort Worth and Dallas areas. Sessions can happen in a studio, outdoors, in your home, or even your backyard. We can figure out a location that fits best for your family while planning!
Petite sessions focus mostly on your baby. Full-length sessions can include your whole family and siblings, giving you images that celebrate everyone in this chapter.
Sessions are easy, playful, and stress-free. I follow your baby’s lead, capturing natural expressions, little details, and authentic moments. We typically start with the more traditional portraits and then move to capturing all the little details and authentic moments.
Plan to reach out a few months before your baby’s birthday. Early booking secures your date and gives us time to plan details.
That’s completely up to you! Some families love documenting the first cake, while others prefer to celebrate with portraits alone. Both work beautifully.
Every session includes style guidance. Full-length clients also have access to my client closet with flattering dresses for moms.
