Maternity Family Session with Twins // Fort Worth Photography
If you’re expecting and also have toddlers, the idea of a maternity session might feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be.
My outdoor sessions are designed with families like yours in mind. There’s no pressure to pose perfectly or keep little ones still (because let’s be real – they don’t want to!). Instead, we play, explore, and follow your kiddo’s lead. I’ll guide you into good light and offer simple direction when needed, but the goal is to keep things easy, natural, and yes – stress free.
This sweet family is expecting another set of twins and wanted to document this current season with their twin toddlers before the new babies arrive. We met at one of my favorite outdoor spots in Fort Worth, where the little ones could explore and just be themselves. Mom and Dad stayed close, soaking in the joy and energy. I captured the cuddles, the chaos, and the in-between because that’s what this season is all about!
What a Maternity Family Session Really Looks Like
Every maternity family session is different, and that’s exactly how it should be. Every family is different and your session should reflect that.
Some toddlers want to explore. Others want to snuggle close. Some come in full of energy, while others take a little time to warm up. The beauty of a family session is that we don’t rush or force anything. We let your family lead, and I simply guide you into natural moments worth remembering.
There’s space for play, pauses, and everything in between.
Prepping Toddlers for a Family Session
Even as I write that subheading, a little voice in me says, “silly lady – you cannot prep a toddler.” And honestly, that’s true (iykyk). But there are a few things I do recommend before your session.
Make sure bellies are full and happy. Bring a small toy or two – something we can include in the photos or hide if needed. And let them know you’re going to hang out with a friend and have some fun.
The biggest prep? It’s probably for you, not them.
Know that your toddler will show up as themselves….or maybe as someone completely new (been there!). That’s OK. I truly love the little ones in front of my camera and will follow their lead the entire time. I promise you I am not stressed even a little bit (and I don’t want you to be either).
As mom and dad, just embrace whatever your toddler brings that day – snuggles, energy, curiosity, or silliness. Be present. I’ll take care of the rest.
