Studio Family Photos // Summer Session in Fort Worth
Summer in the Fort Worth and Dallas areas is no joke, and an indoor session with air conditioning can’t be beat. While I absolutely love an outdoor session, the studio can be the right spot for your family photos (especially in the hottest and coldest months).
When planning your Fort Worth photo session, one of the first things we do is discuss the details. I love to hear about your vision and chat about different ideas over the phone or by email. One key topic will be choosing the location. As a Fort Worth family photographer, I offer sessions at outdoor locations, at-home, or in naturally-lit studios and I can honestly say I love them all! But as we enter the heat of summer, you might be thinking of an indoor session. Read below for why a studio might be the right fit for your family photos!

5 Reasons Why a Studio Might be the Right Location for Your Family Photos
Seasonal Comfort
Summer and winter are two seasons when a studio session might be more comfortable for your family. With the intense summer heat (thanks Texas!), the air conditioning is a welcome relief. No sweating, or swatting away mosquitos in a studio. And, in the winter, if it’s too chilly out – a warm studio might be a better option.
Comfort and Flexibility
Studios offer amenities like restrooms, changing areas, and climate control, making it easier to take breaks and keep everyone comfortable. They also offer more flexible scheduling since we don’t have to work around the best outdoor lighting times. And if you have more than one outfit – the changing area makes it super quick and easy to change outfits.
Consistent Lighting
As a natural light photographer, I love the look of simple, bright studios. They provide consistent lighting even on cloudy or rainy days. My favorite DFW studio locations for family photos is The Lumen Room. Each of their locations offer a simple, well-lit background for photos and provides enough space for the littles to move around.
Might be Better for Young Kids
A studio session can be better for young children during family photos. There is less space to run around and get distracted. While I love outdoor sessions, a studio or at-home session might be a better fit for little ones who aren’t used to exploring outdoors or who might need a smaller space.
It doesn’t mean our session won’t be fun, though—my goal is always to make sessions feel relaxed and to follow the lead of your little ones. Check out these motherhood session photos to take a peek at some other studio sessions.
Indoor Preference for Family Photos (but you don’t want at-home photos)
Although most homes can work for indoor photos, sometimes a studio is more your vibe. The Fort Worth studios offer a clean, minimal space for photos. We can use backdrops or any fun light that day to vary up your photos. And if you are wanting indoors but don’t want photos at-home, the benefit to the studio is that there is no need to worry about any clutter while prepping for your family photos.
No matter where you take your family photos, the focus is always the same – you, your family, and the connections. Whether you choose the studio, your backyard, or the perfect outdoor space, you can’t go wrong.
