Wondering what types of photos you can expect from a full length Fort Worth or Dallas family photo session with Amber Ray Photography? There are 5 main types of photos you can expect in your final gallery! Read about them below.
This post features some beautiful photos from a fall family photo session in Fort Worth. The green field, lighting, and sweet family are all perfect!
1. Genuine, candid shots – Let’s start with my absolute FAVORITE photos of your gallery — and I would bet they end up being yours too! During your session, we will keep it light and stress-free. My goal is to make the experience representative of YOUR family, and that happens best when you are relaxed. You can expect some light guiding and prompting — we will play games, snuggle close, be silly, and go with the flow of your little ones. Don’t be worried if your little one has some big emotions during the session. Just snuggle them closer, sing them a song, be silly. We will capture some really special moments.

2. Black and white images – You will always get a small selection of black and white images. Sometimes there will be a duplicate one in color, but sometimes the black and white image does a better job of capturing the emotion of the photo. The classic, timeless photos deserve their own spot in each family gallery and I am intentional about which ones to include.
3. Close-ups and detail shots – These intimate shots focus on small yet meaningful details, adding intimacy and connection to your family photos. Whether it’s hand-holding, a silly smile, a hug, or a kiss, these shots emphasize the subtleties that make up your family. Detail shots are some of my favorite in newborn sessions, too!

4. Photos of just mom and dad – As a mom of two young kids, I know how rare it might be to get a nice photo of you and your partner. In your Fort Worth family session, I’ll make sure we get some of just you and your partner. After all, you both are where the family started and at the center of the family love. Let’s make sure we capture your relationship during this chapter of parenthood.
5. Traditional portraits – The traditional “look at the camera” photos will always start our family session! I find that it is the easiest for kids to start with these first. Although my favorites still lie in those candid moments, traditional photos with everyone looking at the camera are special too. By starting with these photos first, we will have plenty of time to play and relax for the rest of the photo session.

A family photo session is an opportunity to freeze time and create memories of the love and connection within your family during your current chapter. As a Fort Worth and Dallas family photographer, I promise that each of these five types of photos holds a special and important place in your final photo gallery.
